IF - Impossibility

I love the story of the Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, even though it is not a happy one. It always pulls at my heartstrings. For IF this week, I sat sketching and began thinking of the little mermaid - this sketch is what took shape. Quite an impossibility that a mermaid even exists, except in our most fanciful of dreams... yet in Copenhagen there she sits for all to see, gazing after her lost love.

She's a beauty. This piece has a really classic, vintage feel to it. Wonderful.
